Last week’s Friday Focus on Flourishes blog  was paper piecing. I was really inspired by the tutorial created by Faith so I decided to use the I Love Roses set too. And here is the result:

The whole rose is paper pieced using Basic Grey Porcelain papers. The base of the rose is one paper a bit colored with Prismacolor pencils to matched the popped up middle. Paper I used for the middle of the flower is a bit yellow-y so I added a bit of yellow to the base too. The leaves are half colored with Prisma pencils too. All the other papers and the brads are from the same collection.

I loved the technique, so I decided to make another card. Same papers, just this time I used my new Gorjuss girl stamp from Funky Kits.  And here she is:

This week’s Featured Stamper  on SCS was MIchelle (Justpaintingaround). She has an amazing style of creating. I was really inspired by her backgrounds. So here are 2 cards I made:

The first one is a CASE of one of Michelle’s cards - just had to simplify the layout a bit - it took me a while to figure out how to cut the pieces and then put them back together The image is called Post Box and it’s from Sugar Nellie collection. It’s colored, wersamarked, embossed and then I did the background using sponges and ink.

This card isn’t exactly a CASE, but it was inspired by Michelle for sure. i think she used the same layout (or similar) on more cards. The background was created first, using brayer, sponges and white gel pen. The Tilda was colored with waterbased markers and aquapainter, then I cut her out and glued her “in the sea”.

I received this super cute Sugar Nellie image (and lots of others) from my friends on SCS’s Canadian Image Swap.. it’s so sweet, it was just asking for a bit of pink The image is colored with Prisma pencils and blended with baby oil. I added Stickles on the dots on her hat and belt and the flower centers. Paper is Bittersweet from Basic Grey. Lace, flowers and rhinestones are from my stash.
